FALLON/AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE/GETTY IMAGES By Suryatapa Bhattacharya Aug. 25, 2022 3:48 am ET SHARE Listen to article (2 minutes) Vanessa Bryant, the widow of basketball star Kobe Bryant, was awarded $16 million by a federal jury on Wednesday in her lawsuit against Los Angeles County over the sharing of photos that showed the remains of her late husband and their daughter. Kobe Bryant, 41, and his daughter, 13-year-old Gianna, along with six other passengers, died in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26, 2020. Mrs. Bryant alleged that county first responders took unauthorized photos of the crash scene and remains of the victims and shared those photos with others. She said her privacy was violated and that she suffered emotional distress. Exc.
