I had not heard that term before, or at least didn't know what it meant so I ignored it.

Apple calls it retouching. Within their free Photos app on macOS and iOS, you can adjust the size of the brush (a circle) to faster and more precise in-painting of objects you want to remove.

At least Apple calls cropping, cropping. Lol.

It works pretty well except some objects require multiple passes to completely remove them and blend with the surrounding area.
