VLSI just gets no respect - 20 new postings for LSI Logic, and just two for VLSI! Not to mention LSI has higher valuations even though VLSI has better technology and will easily out-grow stodgy old LSI in 1998.

Five years ago LSI WAS a hot company, but they fell behind. VLSI has a substantial lead now, and have become the defacto premire (independent) baseband wireless IC producer.
