I have been using Fidelity for about a year. The only reason I have been using them is that I just happened to own a Fidelity Mutual Fund when they advertised their webexpress online service. I use them because they offer a lot of mutual funds from other companies that you can trade for free.

They advertise the 14.95 pertrade regularly. But to get that you have to place 36 trades at the regular rate of 19.95. A limit order costs $2.95 extra. Their site is slow. It is only updated at 4:00 am in the morning. It costs you I think .02 or .03 extra above 1000 shares for a single trade. I would not recommend them to a person who makes a lot of stock trades.

I would only recommend them if you want to trade some mutual funds and a few stocks. I am looking at moving my stocks over to Datek or Waterhouse. If you want to trade mutual funds you might look at waterhouse. They offer a nice selection of funds you can trade for free + $12 a trade for stocks.

Fidelity does provide some of the highest interest rates for their money market accts. I have been getting about 3.6 % tax free.
Fidelity's web site is one of the most professional looking sites I have seen. It is very well thought out except for one thing. One frame on the left side of the screen that contains all the links is one huge graphic. It takes longer to download that little frame then it does the rest of the entire page. If they would change that frame to just text links their website would be twice as fast.

Thanks, Jon Cave
By the way this was my first post on SI.
