Was it? It was from the Allied POV, but had we lost that war Hap Arnold, Curtis LeMay, et al would have been swinging from a gallows for giving up all pretense to bombing military targets and sparing civilians, with the bogus proposition that civilians under an oppressive absolute dictatorship were at fault for not overthrowing that regime (Germany) and it was their delusional allegiance to their emperor that made them deserve to burn (Japan). How would an objecive deity have judged it, and the 77 years after that?
