That's my observation of my niece and nephews. I have no idea how this happened, but it's bad news.
“Millennials have all these modern skills and yet they come out of university no different than the medieval peasant who is anchored in his own little world,” he tells me mid-way through our conversation.

“Well, actually they are anchored in . . . the world of the present – but with no historical dimension.

The result is that they have overly simplistic views of current issues, leaving them open to manipulation by politicians and the media.
I've been more of less teaching history to one 28 year old nephew and giving him reading assignments each Sunday afternoon. He knows about basketball, technology and trading (not investing) and that's about it

I'm glad another nephew got married and now takes care of his son while his wife works. His complete inability to understand how to keep any boss happy or do what he's told. He's not stupid but he's convinced whatever he thinks of doing totally takes precedence over what he's hired to do.

I remember people my age joining hippy communes while I was going to college then working for an oil company in San Francisco, so obviously there's always been those who are career oriented and those who are not. So maybe I'm just more aware of diversity in my own family now.
