There were rumors about a Compaq takeover a bit earlier in the year, but it appears that the big deal Compaq was geting set to do is already done--DEC. Some people still think Compaq may do a deal with AMD, but in my opinion its pretty unlikely. People on this thread are always speculating about IBM and AMD. It makes sense to me, but I don't think there are any rumors about it floating around in the broader market right now.
