Musk needs and relies on others for that. That doesn't keep his brash nature at bay though, and he knows marketing well and how to generate excitement for his company's products. In that way he's somewhat like Steve Jobs and the legendary "Reality Distortion Field." he was jokingly believed to create at Apple product introductions in his day. Jobs also needed masters at logistics and business to run Apple, so Tim Cook was the main man for him in that regard. > Putting pressure on regulators to approve his self driving machines or trying to keep others out of the market by claiming first to market advantage? We know that wouldn't work on any potential Apple product. I can't really speak to that much because the car manufacturing business is a far different beast than consumer electronics or computers to me. I don't know much about what machinations go on behind the scenes at these monster companies, I only read the rumors and hearsay about all that when reported in the press or written about in a book, after the fact. I do find it all fascinating to watch though. :-)
