So the Russians said we don’t abandon our people, and he (Vlad) has overwhelming support in that region. Uke Nazi made a mistake, you can’t oppress and kill a significant nation inside your country. I think there was a chance to avoid the war if the Ukes abandoned their NATO bid. With the NATO bid it threatens Russia itself because of article 5 and proximity to Moscow. US got involved in Ukraine, so Russia did too.
