Keep going back and forth as to whether SiC is really supply constrained.


I think it is, but I would trust it more if we were hearing from auto execs. Unfortunately, there are so many components in short supply that they rarely talk about them individually (except MCU's occasionally).


Onsemi said Wednesday that most of the RFQs are for SiC. They blatantly say they are going to charge a premium and there will be no yearly price cuts.


One difference between Wolfspeed and ON right now is that Wolfspeed hasn't raised prices despite the shortages. I like what Hassane has done with the company but I wonder how much damage he has done to their relationships. The price increases work now because there are no alternatives.

Of course, Broadcom is widely hated by their customers and they have managed to maintain margins and sales for years. We'll see whether ON can do something similar.
