Look at how many players are now in the nuclear club. USA, RuZZia, China, India, Pakistan, Israel, France, and UK. Iran and North Korea will eventually join. It's only a question of when.
The ONLY thing preventing WWIII is the notion of Mutually Assured Destruction, or MAD.
So what's the point of having nukes if you're supposedly never going to use them, except in "self-defense"?
You know the answer to this question. It's all for power. It's all for using the threat of nukes in order to extract concessions from everyone else.
PooTin is already using that in order to limit NATO from fully assisting Ukraine. NATO is stuck having to "merely" supply Ukraine with weapons and ammunition, but who knows whether PooTin already considers that a "valid pretext" for WWIII?
Certainly not you. Nor I.
That's why I don't think PooTin will start a nuclear war. If he wanted to, he would have done it already. Only problem is that he'd lose everything and go down in history as the man who wiped out human civilization.
But hey, who knows? Maybe PooTin already decided that would be preferable to losing in Ukraine. Maybe he really is that crazy.
If that's the case, and you truly fear WWIII, then you should advocate giving away Crimea and the two breakaway regions in the East (i.e. the pre-February borders). Let PooTin spin this as a "victory" on his part.
If the Ukrainians feel shortchanged by such a deal with the devil, tough luck. They should be thankful that they even got any assistance from NATO in the first place.
The only problem is that this directly contradicts what you advocated, namely defeating and humiliating PooTin. I remember that you even posted a link advocating for that (although I can't find it right now).
In any case, get the fantasy out of your mind that the RuZZian economy is on the brink of collapse. It might be, or it might not be. I really doubt it given their natural resources. Worst that could happen is that they turn into another Iran or North Korea. Axis of Evil 2.0.
Also get the fantasy out of your mind that PooTin will soon croak, or be deposed in some coup d'etat. I've seen Wharfie entertain such fantasies as well. Even if PooTin does croak, there will always be some kleptocrat waiting to take his place. And the average RuZZian citizen will be powerless to stop that.
Finally, stop pretending that Brandon is doing anything except taking the path of least resistance. He's damned lucky that Zelensky has proven to be a great leader, and he's also damned lucky that the GQP is shooting itself in the foot, nuts, and head, in that order.
But taking the path of least resistance is hardly remarkable. A ship adrift in the ocean does that. Water running down a hill does that. Electricity does that.
This war was allowed to happen in part because Western leaders all took the path of least resistance, i.e. leading from their behinds.
