I think they need the materials capacity expansion when MVF begins bringing the 2nd half of their capacity on-line...which should be by '25.

Lowe has been quoted as saying they are breaking ground on Monday and it will be in production by January 2024. So it must be needed for 1st half of MVF.

The cost of materials expansion has always seemed like a fraction of the fab expense but this number is enormous.

Cost must include power transmission lines or some other infrastructure. Hopefully they will say what the substrate capacity is. The Coherent (was II-VI) fab is 1/3 the size but at least 1 million 150mm a year. So maybe 3 million. That would mean the 13x comment would put current capacity at 230 thousand a year. Which probably isn't that far off.
