Cromwell is worth a cursory study at least.

Oliver Cromwell - Mediation and the second Civil War | Britannica

He became a general of the New Army a won a number of victories.

He didn't think most politicians were any good and became "Lord Protector" of the UK (A dictator in reality.)

He had to supress a mutiny by the "Levelers". They sound interesting, an earlier form of communists. From the above link.

"He also had to suppress a mutiny, inspired by a group known as Levelers, an extremist Puritan party said to be aiming at a “levelling” between rich and poor, in the Commonwealth army. "

He did work on reforms though, for the legal system, and the status of the UK, and both fared well under his control.

Cromwell didn't think much of corrupt types, and usually had them kicked out of office.

Maybe you should declare the USA a "Protectorate" and put yourself in charge as "Leveler in Chief"? -g-

Generally speaking, Cromwell was a winner, but had some detractors, as we all do -g-
