You know, this just reinforces the old adage that the most important component of doing well in the stock market is research. Unfortunately, I was one of those duped by this 'service' - I followed his picks on a monthly basis and was impressed by the posted rates of returns. I bought into December's pick (GSIC) and managed to see a good rate of return throughout December (33%) but quickly saw it bottom out in Mid Jan.

Interestingly, I started researching the FSS and GSIC and came across more than a few unfavourable postings. I sold quickly and managed to avoid a major hit, but still ended up losing money on the deal. These postings were available long before I ever made my purchase, and would have saved me money if I had taken the time to investigate. More strength to the argument against impulse buying! Research Research Research!

Thanks for the tips,

M.Walton
