Bear Market rallies are primarily short covering rallies, but they are fundamentally based on the softening of conditions that caused the decline in the first place place, such as rising inflation and Fed rate hikes. With rising inflation still intact and the Fed more hawkish than ever with no pivot in sight, this market is toast after a few days of likely consolidation into the end of the week.
