We always knew we had great neighbors, and there was and still is a huge amount of support for one another that won't soon be forgotten.
That’s the same thing that happened with my daughter. It brought their community together and actually had an impact on some of the ridiculous rules they had in Tahoe at the time. Some environmentalists convinced the Tahoe Regional Planning Association that raking pine needles contributed to polluting the lake. $70 fine if you cleared your yard.

Houses that had a clearing, didn’t burn; the ones that had a lot of pine needles did burn. My daughter’s house burned because they didn’t rake, the house next door, didn’t burn because they raked and cleared. That rule is gone now.
