The TRPA is a political appointment by the Governor. None of the members live in Tahoe. Why they have so much clout is a mystery.

After the fire, there was a meeting with the president of TRPA (who lived in Colorado). The fire burned 242 homes and 67 businesses. This was right in South Lake Tahoe. The people were so irate that he asked the cops to escort him out of the building. He went directly to the airport where his private plane was parked.

There’s still a tug of war going on about forest management. Also a lot of the fires in the Tahoe area were arson. They’ve caught a few of them. One was a woman.
