Need help getting QP to run consistently under NT 4.0.

Something like half the time, when I try to start the
QP chart program I get an illegal instruction fault
under NT 4.0. I have the same problem with other QP
components, but don't run them as often.

I've called tech support, and the only way they know
to solve the problem is to clear everything out of
the [initial] section of quotplus.ini and reboot.

I just plain can't afford to reboot several times a
day, and besides the fix is temporary.

So far I haven't been able to pin down exactly what
brings this on, though I suspect it involves running
other 16-bit programs.

Last night the update database program failed, so I
ran rebuild database which failed in the middle.
Apparently now the database is toast.

I can rebuild the database from the downloads (which
I save routinely). But in short this is getting serious.

Has anyone else had this sort of problem? Does anyone
have a solution? Tech support says 2.0 doesn't have the
problem because it's all 32-bit code, but you can't get
it, nyah nyah nyah (well, I admit they didn't put it quite
that way, but that was the gist of it).

BTW, I run all 16-bit programs in a separate virtual machine.

I really want to get going on this close(+1)>close(0)+3
scan <gggg>. It looks even better than what I always
wished for, which is Tuesday's paper on Monday afternoon
(about 2:00 or so is fine). What the heck - I can get
Sunday's paper on Saturday PM, so why not?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Spots
