Medicare for All would reduce costs by improving access to preventive care, reducing administrative overhead, and empowering Medicare to negotiate prices
Granted the US seriously needs to overhaul its healthcare cost structure, but comparing Medicare for All to Corporate Medical Insurance is a non-starter of an argument. A Medicare for All would improve access to preventive care, basic vaccines, and generic medications, but could not possibly afford access to more involved procedures.

I qualify for Medicare and Veterans Administration plans, but I also carry a commercial Cigna Medicare supplement plan. I consider the VA to be free medical malpractice as too many friends have died waiting for appointments months away. I could get free prescriptions via the VA, but only generics, so I prefer to pay for my own prescriptions.

The is nothing now to prevent Medicare (except congressional action) from enhancing fraud enforcement, reducing administrative overhead, and negotiating prices on services and prescriptions.

Get Medicare and the VA running like clockwork. THEN a good argument can be made for expanding such services to everyone.
