Chan -

Well, I'm stuck in Detroit, with my flight to Hartford cancelled. Fortunately, the World Perks club has internet access, so I have three hours to get caught up on my trading (oh, and maybe prepare for my customer calls) before catching a later flight.

Now, to respond to your post...

Well, IF I had asked for actual dollars, they would be making a legitimate point. As I said in my post to Sean, I am never impressed with HOW MUCH money someone has made. We all operate from different points of reference, and different capital levels. Me, I'm just a chemical engineer who used to work for Procter & Grumble, and is now working continuing on with the smaller company that was spun off from P&G (Buckeye Technologies). Now, I am managing my rollover IRA (and a small Schwab brokerage account!), using TA to govern my trading.

Now, I am impressed with percentages, and that's precisely the type of information I am recommending we share. I would suggest the following format:

For System Tests
--------------------
a. System Name
b. Daily/Weekly data?
c. Entrance rule(s)
d. Exit rule(s)
e. Additional money management rules (stop losses, profit targets)
f. Scope of stocks tested (e.g., IDB 85/85, Dow 30)
g. Date Range (e.g., 1/1/95 - 12/31/97)
h. Test results - # Trades, % Winners, Avg % Prof/Loss, Avg Trade Length.

For Real-World Results
---------------------------
a. System Name
b. Daily/Weekly data?
c. Entrance rule(s)
d. Exit rule(s)
e. Additional money management rules (stop losses, profit targets)
f. Date Range (e.g., last year, last two years)
g. Scope of stocks traded (either a list, or at least a general description)
h. Results (# Trades, % Winning, Avg % Profit, Avg Trade Length) or Actual Trade Log (with %%% only!)...

I don't have my results readily available here in the airport, but I would be happy to get it together in the next day or two, and share it in this suggested format, if I get some inkling that the folks on this thread aren't highly offended by this approach!
