One of the things I've loved about Cannondale is that they have gone out of their way to provide the best equipment to people with varied interests. In some cases, there are financial benefits to be had - presumably their wheelchair line fits into this category. In other cases, such as their continuing production of excellent touring bikes (for the dozen or so of us who not only enjoy road bikes but like to treat them like pack mules), profit seems to have little to do with their motivation.

As an investor, I naturally want to see them grow, but I feel they are best able to do this when they stick to what they know. Motorcycles may be somewhat related to bicycles, but it seems like a bit of a diversion from their real core. Not to mention the fact that I don't see encouraging a new generation of outdoor enthusiasts to race around with noisy, polluting machines to be in the best spirit of bicycling.

I've got one foot out the door at this point. What's next: a defense contract to use their skills in aluminum frame design to build a new generation of fighter wings?

Jeff
