Brazil is expected to harvest 3.2 million tons of coffee this year, or 53.7 million bags of 60 kg, considering the two species, arabica and canephora (conilon or robusta).
The data are from the Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production in August, released this Thursday by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The amount is equivalent to a growth of 0.9% in relation to the forecast in the previous month.
Compared to the performance of 2021, there was an increase of 9.6%. The average yield, of 1,739 kg/ha, increased by 8.2% in 2022 compared to 2021. For Arabica coffee, production should be 2.1 million tons, or 35.1 million bags of 60 kg, growth of 9.7% compared to the previous year Compared to the performance of 2021, there was an increase of 9.6%. For Arabica coffee, production should be 2.1 million tons, or 35.1 million bags of 60 kg, growth of 9.7% over the previous year. "In 2022, the Arabica coffee crop was a positive biennial, which should result in a significant increase in production. However, the dry and excessively cold weather of the 2021 winter reduced the expected potential", pointed out the IBGE, in a note.
For canephora coffee, better known as conilon or robusta, production is estimated at 1.1 million tons, or 18.6 million bags of 60 kg, an increase of 2.5% over the previous month and 9 .4% compared to 2021.... |
