Subsidizing ethanol production from food is crazy.
37 years ago I argued against it [my job in BP Oil International was gasoline technical and marketing advisor]. A friend worked for a chemical company and he told me ethanol was going to be big. I explained that it wasn't economic. He pointed out it had the trump card of political promotion. I was wrong and he was right.
At the time, BP Oil was doing R&D on ethanol as a supplement to increase sources of fuel as crude oil had reached $40 a barrel, up from $2 a barrel a decade earlier. It was a disastrous time. Then ethanol turned into a CO2 religion = biofuel and it got a new lease on life. I was stopping alternative fuel research because crude oil had fallen back to tolerable $10 a barrel.
Decades later, there's still negligible sea level rise and trivial air temperature rise but starvation is rampant and going global and all the ethanol possible will make zero difference to CO2 output but lots of difference to starving people who would rather eat than die for the wealthy, obese, ignorant CO2 fanatical cultists.
Also, stop having a war. Attacking Russia is even more insane than the CO2 cult. Just leave them alone. Too late now so Russia has done what the idiots who caused it did not want to happen. So now they are scaling up. Probably all the way to MAD as the crazed Yanks, Liz Truss, Ursula, Jacinda, Annalena, Sanna and other witchy evils along with Gruppenfuhrer Stoltenberg and Fourth Reich Scholz don't seem to have an off switch. *
