Threshold is usually when they go below 20 percent and cross back up. It works similar to the stochastic oscillator. I haven't done a performance analysis. marketcharts.com The difference with the 200-day moving average has broken down below 30 percent to where there is no safe haven. The other one is the difference of today's low price from the 50-day moving average and the 200-day moving average. It is starting to approach June's low, but nowhere close to the lows in March 2020 or the 2008.
