All governments treat their people as adults treat children - they feed them useful myths to simplify their lives.

Anyone with even rudimentary understanding of immunology knows that no vaccine - in fact no medical procedure - is 100% effective or without side effects. But saying that to the populace would have risked them bulking against a procedure that by and large is beneficial to the society where the benefits far outweigh the risks. And no vaccine can guarantee that a person will not be a carrier.

I never believed those myths and I don't think most people here did either. In fact as early as spring of 2020, before there even was a vaccine, I'm on the record saying that eventually cv19 will become an endemic and everyone will have to take seasonal shots for it.

The two bits that were new to me were, (1) that the damages accumulate and every time a person catches cv19 it takes more out of the. This needs more research to separate correlation from causation - or perhaps there is something broken in those susceptible to multiple covid infections.

(2) That some variants are immune to the antibodies. Again, that need more research, but if the virus evolves to a point that it is impervious to vaccines and antibodies and is as deadly as the original, then we're back to 2020.
