Quantum DLT 7000 Tape System Backup Solutions Now Offered by Dell

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 11, 1998--Quantum Corporation (NASDAQ:QNTM) announced today that Dell Computer Corporation will offer Quantum industry leading DLT(tm) 7000 tape system as an optional departmental or enterprise backup solution. The DLT 7000 tape system is supported on the Dell PowerEdge 4100, 4200 and 6100 servers.
The DLT 7000 35/70 GB tape drive provides the high-availability, scalability and high-volume data integrity that is essential for today's backup requirements. With this drive customers can expect to benefit from faster data backup, extended tape life, and enhanced data integrity and reliability. The DLT 7000 tape system is fully available from Dell in internal, tabletop and rack-mountable versions. Dell also supports the DLT(tm) 4000 on the 4100, 4200 and 6100 line of servers.

With regard to reliability, the stand-alone DLT 7000 tape system features a head life of 30,000 hours, media durability of 1,000,000 tape passes, and an overall Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 200,000 hours at a 100 percent duty cycle and 300,000 at a 20 percent duty cycle. The DLT 7000 tape system is read and write compatible with all Quantum's previous generation of DLTtape systems. In addition to providing backward compatibility with legacy DLTtape system, DLTtape technology offers a well-defined path for future performance and capacity improvements that will ensure its longevity in the marketplace.
