I hope part of that adaption is the reduction of adding 34 billion metric tons of carbon into the air every year - adapting will be problematic if the oceans reach an acid state.
The environment survived an asteroid strike. It was catastrophic, for sure, but it also proves how resilient the environment is and how "life finds a way" (h/t Jurassic Park).

Additional CO2 in the atmosphere isn't going to be nearly as catastrophic.
