Thanks for looking into this, and I will try to evaluate more quantitatively. What I have been doing is
monitoring the daily (and intraday) changes of QYLD and SQQQ but not religiously. My observation
has been that it works both up and down, but that hadn't been challenged by large swings.

Today was a big move and the gain in QYLD is only half the loss in SQQQ. Big down days have given
me more SQQQ gain than QYLD loss, but you are right that the hedge is weaker on the upside.

I did say that it's not a perfect hedge in my original post, or the one with the numbers. One of those.
If you think I am looking at this as something that can be put in auto drive, no - I can't trust the market.

I am just learning how to deal with this, so I appreciate your insight.
