Apple has really blown it with Apple Music, at least to my ears, but I still do some things old school.

Here's my major problem with it: It wants to take over and play me what it thinks I want to hear on my iPhone, even though I have a large MP3 (sorry Doren!) music library on it I generally prefer over what Apple Music thinks I want to hear.

I've started playlists I've made from my library on the phone, then it'll switch over by itself to Apple Music and start playing a related song of the same genre, or a cover version of the tune I just listened to by some artist I've never heard of.

Also, Siri is often too dumb to take instructions beyond "Hey Siri, play X song from Y band." If I say, "Hey Siri, play the Buddhist Meditation Headbanger Metal playlist," I've created myself from my own music, Siri will often (but not always) choose some curated list with the same or similar name from Apple Music it thinks I wanted. WTF?

It's maddening and I can't understand the logic in forcing AM down customer's throats like that. No wonder they can't win that marketshare battle with Spotify and the cool kids still prefer it first, even with ads if they don't chose to pay.

While I don't like to swear at Siri, I've been very tempted to sometimes! Maybe if I change her voice to the aggressively sarcastic Brooklyn male one, cussing at her won't bother me so much...

Anyway, I finally shut Apple Music off in the Music app due to the frustration, even though I pay for it anyway through an Apple One subscription.

I've had enough.
