| | | | Very interesting discussion. I don't know New Zealand well, but it sounds like the description of big govt aligned with corporations is everywhere in your view, ie China, Russia, New Zealand, presumably most countries in Europe. And to some extent this is true. But we have checks and balances against Centralization of power in US and we have two parties and currently it seems clear to me that golfer is pointing out dems who are breaching these protections by using corporations to censor speech where the govt is not allowed to do so. Also they are using the administrative state in doj, intelligence agencies, fbi, irs, dhs to override explicit boundaries of independence to serve existing executive branch and attack the previous one. In this case are not the dems MORE authoritarian than the repubs under Trump? And thereby also more fascist? There may also be something about fascist regimes implying rising to power on elections but then no longer running for free elections. Intentionslly tilting the election process after being elected might also be a marker for fascism. I always am puzzled by claims Trump is fascist since he wants smaller govt, less regulation, more free speech--these are not traditional indicators of fascists. |
