No wonder they can't win that marketshare battle with Spotify and the cool kids still prefer it first, even with ads if they don't chose to pay. It was interesting reading your complaints and then seeing the above.
I think Apple *is* trying to compete by pushing randomly streamed additional content, thereby upping playcounts which is what keeps artists on platforms. I find that at least the music is selected from similar genres to what I like, and its preferential to the Spotify ads, or their spotty coverage of some artists.
When I'm in my car I generally run "Yofal's Station", Apple's automated playlist based on listening habits, which plays my favourite music as well as inserting new music every 2nd or third play. Occasionally I'll hear something new or a alternative cut from an artist I enjoy, and the rest is easily skipped with a right click on my steering wheel.
And yes, Siri continues to occasionally mis-comprehend what I'm saying. It keeps reminding me that AI isn't real (yet?), and mostly just clever programming tricks. And the more I use it, the more I realize Siri prefers a certain word order when making requests. It trains me, and in return I get hands-free treats.
Somedays I kinda wish I was still just using well-worn mixtapes. Less is more? |
