Inode, California should have been ground zero for the initial COVID-19 surge for the reasons I already mentioned. We saw some of the very first cases. We have a big Chinese-American population here with a lot of travel between our two countries. Lots of extended families live together, especially among ethnic minorities like Latinos and Indians. And San Francisco and Los Angeles have enough population densities to spread an airborne virus.

Instead, we locked down first. We're generally better at mask-wearing than the rest of the population. Even today, I still see many people around here wearing masks. Later we were also much better at getting vaccinated than some other states, especially Florida.

There's a reason why California is lower than the national average when it comes to per-capita deaths. Heck, we're even lower than Arizona, and Arizona is much more sparsely populated and gets a lot more UV rays than us.
