You can't just say, "Shutting down the economy saved lives" because you really don't know what did and didn't save lives.
Like I said before, Sweden opted to forego lockdowns, unlike their Nordic neighbors.

The results speak for themselves. Sweden experienced a much higher death rate.

Unless you can tell me what other variables caused that discrepancy, the simplest explanation is that, in this case, lockdowns worked.
