Since they usually aren't submerged underwater unless by accident, Apple doesn't worry about making them water resistant. :-) The screenshot below was taken from Mactracker, still a free app and usually updated pretty quickly when new Apple gear is released. It's linked in the thread intro for Apple Product Help , and it should still work on your older hardware and macOS.
