Which file format are you referring to? Not Apple Lossless?

Yes, Apple's computers still come with 3.5mm jacks. Since they usually aren't submerged underwater unless by accident, Apple doesn't worry about making them water resistant. :-)

The screenshot below was taken from Mactracker, still a free app and usually updated pretty quickly when new Apple gear is released. It's linked in the thread intro for Apple Product Help , and it should still work on your older hardware and macOS.
