State News Release! Little Engine wins lottery!

The following conversation was overheard at the ceremony congratulating Little Engine on his winning $3,000,000 in the state lottery.
_______________________________________________________________

Lottery official: "Little Engine, Congratulations! You have just won $3,000,000 in our state lottery. What do have to say?"

Little Engine: "That's what you say. How do I know the lottery commission hasn't ripped off all of the revenues and padded the pockets of Lottery officials?"

Lottery Official: "Well, uh, we have internal controls that prohibit that from happening...specific regulations and such. I can't (Little Engine interrupts)..."

Little Engine: "Hey pal, don't soak me like a sponge; I know what you people are like. So where is my cashier's check? It had better be cashable, and not drawn on some teeny weeny bank that can't cover the amount!"

Lottery Official: "Well it doesn't work quite like that. You see, you will get after-tax payments of $91,500 for 20 years. And...

Little Engine: "WHAT!!! That is B.S.! I want the whole amount now! I'll worry about my own taxes. I don't trust the government to keep my money; it will probably go under before I get all of my money out. This isn't fair. Where are your financials?" (Lottery Official, now looking dazed and confused, starts fishing through some files looking for proof of state lottery's solvency) "No, not the state's financials. I want your personal financials to guarantee that I will be paid. This sucks. I want my momma, I mean my money! Gimme gimme gimme it now!"

The above is not meant to be anything other than what would be close to Little Engine's response if he somehow won the lottery.

We are thankful for the Little Engines in the world, however, as we would not know an optimist without a Little Engine.
