How can a country fight embargoes? Follow my line of thought

First let's look to asymmetrical wars.

Asymmetrical war, means if one can't win a conventional war, it needs to go unconventional.

For instance, no country can win a conventional war against the US. To fight against the US one must go unconventional. I cannot win a war, but I am going to hurt this guy so much that, he would not throw its weight against me

Short of going nuclear, one way to hit a major country is to embargo aka Economic War. it It works if it is a country that does not have much weight in the economy and cannot find enough friends. Like the usual suspects, Libya, N. Korea Iran, Cuba.

But if you try economic war against a major economy, the enemy can hit you back. That can be done by finding alternative sources and markets to off load your exports.

The present economic war against Russia has had collateral effects as Russia has a bigger impact in he world economy.
  • US making a killing exporting LNG to Europe for them store gas for the winter.
  • South Africa profiting from exporting thermal coal to Europe.
  • Brazil grabbing steel and oil markets
  • China profiting from re-selling Russian oil and gas
  • India profiting from refining cheap Russian oil.
  • Iran and Venezuela waiting on the sidelines to profit from the situation as the US would need to replenish the SPR.
