I don't think this should be private; others can be having
this problem.

I tried to kill WOW but it wasn't in the process list once
I put all 16-bit threads into separate VMs. I suppose
logoff/logon (hadn't thought of it) but for me that has
most of the bad consequences of rebooting (have to shut down/
reestablish network connections, shut down/reopen working
environment, etc).

Well, I'll work on it some more and post any discoveries.
Surely I'm not the only one running NT 4.0? Maybe I'm
the only one who can't get Q+ 2.0. :>(''''
