Shi, great insight to developing China situation. I have the honor of informing you that you are now official resident China Station Expert on the Q thread. Please keep posting. I listened to the AMAT conference call yesterday. Their CEO (Morgan) is about as gilt-edged in the hi-tech field as they come--analysts love him, shareholders worship him, other techies dig him, etc. etc. He said, and I do NOT quote: Well gang, we're getting hammered by SEA. Things don't look anywhere near as rosy as I told y'all a few months ago. [Ed. Note. Morgan in October dismissed Korea as a "blip"] And the rest of the year is kinda gonna get rough, I'm thinking we're gonna do maybe $.38 instead of $.50 next quarter, and the quarter after that I don't have a clue but it's ain't pretty. Europe and the Americas are humming so it ain't a disaster, but it's a definite hurter." The Mighty Q is a fraction of AMAT but I take this as further evidence that even managements with absolutely outstanding credentials have been taken to the woodshed by SEA. And I further speculate that this might dramatically reduce the collateral fall-out on Q's management's reputation with the Street. OTOH, the other clear message is that Ramsey's SEA Thing is still playing at a movie theatre near you. Mike Doyle
