ZZ Top's Dusty Hill Dead at the Age Of 72 (msn.com)

It’s being a sad week for the music world. We’ve just shared the sad loss of former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison and not long following his death, the music world lost another legend. This time a bassist from ZZ Top, the band’s legendary bassist Dusty Hill passed away at the age of 72. According to Hill’s bandmates, he passed away at his home, in Houston Texas. They’ve posted a statement from social media accounts to share Dusty Hill’s loss.
“We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX,” the surviving ZZ Top members write. “We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that “Blues Shuffle in C. You will be missed greatly, amigo.”

After sharing the sad news about legendary bassist Dusty Hill, ZZ Top decided to cancel all their upcoming shows. This June, ZZ Top announced a 75 date massive tour, kicking off this month. Dusty Hill wasn’t on stage for the first event due to a hip injury. This was supposed to be a “short detour” as they’ve said. Currently, there isn’t any information if ZZ Top will continue their mega tour with a stand-in bassist or if they’ll cancel the tour entirely. We will be sharing any updates about it.

Reactions To His Death - Rockers reacted to Dusty Hill’s death via their social media accounts. Ossy Osbourne tweeted “Rest In Peace #DustyHill of @ZZTop. My thoughts go out to @BillyfGibbons and Frank Beard and all the #ZZTop fans around the world” while Alex Skolnick saying “Tough week in music. Damn.” pointing out to another loss this week. There are plenty of famous faces from rock music who shared their sad reactions through their social media accounts.

Gilby Clarke tweeted and said:

lost another legend today. Dusty Hill. we will always remember him as an the authentic Texan with a great sense of humor & ability to hold down the low end of

@zztop
with a growl. you will be missed RIP Dusty Hill

As Metal Shout, we share our condolences and wish all the best to the family and friends of Dusty Hill. As we’ve said before, we will be posting any updates about the future of ZZ Top as soon as they’ve publicly announced.
