I presume you are referring to Mystery Road: Origin, which is actually a prequel to the existing series. In any case, I too enjoyed the heck out of it, as I believe I Posted here a while ago.

I felt the urge to hear some plummy brogue but forgot I already have the latest season of Shetland, so instead I tried the new series Karin Pirie. It is only three episodes so I figured I might be done watching in one evening, but to my surprise the episodes were two hours long. The lead character, though inexperienced and unheralded, suddenly gets assigned to run a botched cold case involving the murder of a barmaid 25 years before. As you would expect , to fill the six hours the case becomes labyrinthine with lots of red herrings. Still, things remains interesting most of the time, and the eventual solution does make sense. (I picked up a vital clue they dropped early on but fortunately didn't realize the significance until halfway through the final episode.) The best thing about the series is the lead character, definitely not a pleaser and quite brilliant in her own way. I expect, ratings allowing, we'll see her again.

Still, I would have rather watched Shetland, if only because the accents are much more enjoyable than the more prosaic ones we hear in the more cosmopolitan urban setting of Karin Pirie.
