That’s what we did to the Serbs - bombed their infrastructure to a pulp, made their life difficult - until they capitulated, and agreed to forfeit Kosovo.

Up until now, the Russians tried to keep the damage to the infrastructure as limited as they could. For their trouble, they got NordStream and the Crimea bridge bombings - plus, bad publicity over the “counteroffensive”. It was a conscious decision to change the character of the war. And it’s horrible for the population. They need a victory.

A friend was able to arrange for her relatives and their friends to leave Kiev - and they ended up in Georgia. After a few months they got home sick - and returned to Kiev. Remember that up until the past several days, life in Kiev was OK. Didn’t ask what’s happening with them now… but the timing of their decision turned out to be not too good.
