some possible effects of an EMP attack.

Whether it's an EMP attack, which could happen, or a coronal mass ejection (CME) at a Carrington Event level or higher, which will happen again, sooner or later, we are woefully unprepared for the consequences.

The cost of hardening and protecting the electrical grid enough to survive either scenario would be minuscule in comparison to the cost of an extended blackout, which could last for months and crash our modern civilization, with starvation and death as a consequence.

Failure to prepare for an EMP or CME event is almost criminal negligence, IMO. Could happen tomorrow or in a hundred years, but it will happen eventually. Hope I'm not around when it does occur..
