To All: Finally broke down and bought a zip drive. I still run at home off a 486Dx2 66 intending to skip a generation when I get my next computer. I try not to sink any more money into upgrades, so my 850 meg HDD is about full. Don't mind buying a zip drive, it solves my storage problem and it isn't wasted on an old system, since I can use it with my new one someday. Opted for the SCSI version. Figured if I went PP I would need a cable and a switch so I could use both zip and printer at same time. Might as well buy the $49.97 (with no rebate) Iomega SCSI adapter card (works great by the way) sitting on the shelve right next to the Iomega ZIP SCSI drive. Couldn't resist picking up the 10-pack at $149.97 before the $20 rebate.
Bottom line: $399.91, and all I wanted was a zip drive!

Lessons Learned:
1. Iomega has done an excellent job of tieing their products together.
2. When we talk about zip and jaz sales on this thread, let's not forget there are other products IOMG is selling like the SCSI adapter card, which may not be insignificant to IO's bottom line.
3. You really can pick up a zip drive just about anywhere today - not true three months ago!
4. The thought process which led me to get a zip may be a fairly common one, which bodes well for sales to existing users for a while to come.

Conclusions:
1. There is a vast market for this product, and at 3 mil in sales, they haven't even scratched the surface yet.
2. If you are a long-term believer in IOMG, don't be too greedy in picking the time to jump on board. IMHO a year from now, 2-3 points will not look like a good reason to have delayed being long on IOMG.
