Palantir salaries revealed: Some engineers at the controversial analytics software company earn nearly $300,000. Here's what managers, analysts and other employees make.

Palantir is known for its controversial contracts providing analytics software to the US government and private companies. The company doesn't disclose salary data, but US companies must share offers made on H-1B visa applications.Insider sifted through job offers to learn how much Palantir pays.Palantir, cofounded by conservative billionaire and Trump-supporter Peter Thiel, is known for providing software in support of Immigration and Customs Enforcement's raids and deportations, the Los Angeles Police Department's profiling and predictive policing programs, and data analytics for military agencies like the US Army.

It also has contracts for managing COVID-19 vaccine allocations in the US, tracking the US response to HIV/AIDS worldwide, and private-sector work like data analytics for oil and gas companies.

CEO Alex Karp has said that company employees — dubbed internally "Palantirians" — don't tend to be people who want to "get rich tomorrow," but rather, want control over what they're working on.

"Part of what makes a Palantirian a Palantirian is somebody that comes here, sometimes for the wrong reasons, and discovers 'you know what — I realize that in any other institution in the world, I am not gonna have the kind of freedom and autonomy to actually get mission stuff done,'" Karp said during a September interview.

Palantir doesn't disclose how much it pays workers. However, US companies have to disclose offers on work-visa applications. These offers must be equal to what US employees earn, making them a great guide to salaries.

Insider has obtained and analyzed data from the US Office of Foreign Labor Certification for offers made over the last year to learn how much the company pays.

The data does not include all offers made by the company. The data covers salaries from October 2021 to the third quarter of 2022. The majority of roles are in New York, though some are based in Palo Alto, CA, and a handful are in Washington, D.C.

Notably, these figures only represent base salaries, but Palantir also offers some employees additional stock grants. These can greatly add to an employee's total compensation if the company is performing well on a long-term basis. Palantir went public two years ago, but its stock price has greatly fluctuated in the years since, at a rate almost twice the public average.

The company was also recently hit with a securities fraud suit, alleging that company leaders misrepresented the company's projected growth and earnings over the past year. Roles with at least one candidate are listed below. Insider's has also compiled a database of salaries across big tech companies like Google, Apple, Tesla, Amazon, and others.
