The key factor in making that choice, as with most choices we make these days, is which alternative produces less GHGs.

Just less than a year ago, southern British Columbia, where I live, suffered terrible flooding due to the unprecedented arrival arrival of 3 straight atmospheric rivers. (And the damage was made worse because a terrible heat dome earlier last summer caused many forest fires, destroying the vegetation which might have held mountainous BC's slopes together during the deluge.)

And today we just had out first appreciable rain in more than 3 months, finally ending a devastating drought.

So we all need to ask ourselves, before we purchase anything or make travel decisions is "Am I part of the solution or part of the problem?"

Most people don't want to hear this, but it is vital!

(I live what I preach. I have made one flight in 13 years, that to see my father one last time before he died. And it looks like this will be the third straight year I will have produced only three bags of garbage the entire year. And I am talking those plastic grocery bags with handles they used to hand out, not giant garbage bags. I no longer drive, but when I still had good enough eyesight to get behind the wheel, I kept it under 250km a year.)
