Maybe? I have been saying that was the case for decades. In the end, China is a totalitarian, fascist, anti-capitalist country. And that is a view I primarily derived from speaking to all the Cantonese who fled Hong Kong in the 1990s and came to NYC after China took over Hong Kong.

One can easily deceive yourself if you are sitting pretty in a free, democratic country, rooting for your ethnic origin. But those in the know who have lived there know better.

Now Xi got what he wanted, a party full of devout loyalists.
