I have a different approach. My guiding principle is Gramsci's 'pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will', so I am going to go down fighting and do everything I can for the future of the people I know. I was in Grade 1 during the Cuban missile crisis. I remember walking home from school, looking up to see jet contrails and wondering if they were from Russian bombers, so I have been living with the threat of nuclear annihilation my entire life without it grinding me too far down, though I did use to have recurrent dreams of escaping the city where I grew after the Russians bombed Seattle, not far away. In any case, I plan to continue trying to be a positive model for others in case we somehow muddle through. LC
