With an ATAPI Enhanced IDE interface, the drive can replay single- and dual-layer disks and offers backward read compatibility with existing CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW media. It can also operate in CAV mode for CD titles. The decoder card plays DVD video, including encrypted movie titles and MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 video titles. An optional hardware AC-3 decoder with SPDIF digital output is also available. The card supports VGA display resolutions at 640 by 480 dots to 1,024 by 768 dots and can display simultaneously on a VGA monitor and an NTSC/PAL TV in overlap mode.
