its change in wages that matter...

when you have wages that are rapidly increasing (i.e. going from the Federal minimum wage to $15/hr) then over a few years where that happens, expect to see the working poor go out and buy a house, which they can now afford, until oops, house prices double in a couple of years and the FED doubles mortgage rates, and the affordability of those $15hr/wages are now back down to $8/hr. Ouch...
