You do realize that many of the China hawks were strong supporters of the guerilla movements in Latin America? For all her faults, Hillary Clinton was one of the greatest friends El Salvador ever had: she raised more money than anyone to give to the guerilla movement in El Salvador, where they held their own and never lost to the USA. No, opposition to China is unified amongst Left and Right for good reason.
